The jam-packed audience who watched the premiere of "Pangako, Ikaw lang,"
starring Aga Muhlach and Regine Velasquez, in two theaters (Cinema 9 and
10) at the SM Megamall received the movie not just warmly but approvingly.
Some, in their excitement, even clapped in glee. They even promised to
watch "Pangako, Ikaw Lang," on its regular showing.
"Pangako, Ikaw Lang" opens today in more than 60 theaters in Metro Manila.
"For me, they are the best movie team after the Boyet de Leon and Vilma
Santos tandem. Nakakakilig silang panoorin on the big screen," someone said.
Indeed, watching Aga and Regine perform together is, no doubt, a real
delight. When they hug each other, kiss each other, whether tenderly or
passionately, or even just fix each other's hair, they do it in such a
manner that you cannot help but think they are in love with each other.
"Yes, Aga and I are in love with each other, but only as friends," Regine
clarified. "It's so easy to love and adore him naman kasi. Aga is mabait
na tao. At napakagaling niyang aktor."
"I must admit that even if 'Pangako, Ikaw Lang' is just our second team-up,"
said Aga, "I feel relaxed and comfortable with her.
"I don't know how she does it," Aga continued. "Kahit passionate scene ang
kinukunan sa amin, pagkatapos ng take, she is back to normal. In my case,
it takes a little while before I become my real self again."
Both Aga and Regine are glad that their movies are marketed on the strength
of elements other than any unnecessary "love/romance" angle. "Kung sabagay,
we make sure naman that before we accept a project, maganda ang istorya,
magaling ang mga co-stars namin at, higit sa lahat, magaling ang direktor
namin.," Regine related.
Joyce Bernal, who directed Aga and Regine's first movie together, "Dahil
May Isang Ikaw," is also the director of "Pangako, Ikaw Lang."
After "Pangako, Ikaw Lang," Aga, Regine and Direk Joyce have become so
close, the ladies made sure they attended Aga and Charlene Gonzalez'
wedding in Baguio City last May 28. Regine, if you recall, even sang two
songs during the wedding ceremonies.
I wonder whom Aga and the other members of the cast of "Pangako, Ikaw Lang"
were referring to when at the reception at Friends, a pubhouse owned by Bojo
Molina, they teased Regine about a young actor who appeared enamored of her.
"Sige na," they said, "para yours will be another wedding of the year."
Produced by Viva Films, "Pangako, Ikaw Lang" also stars Bojo, Bobby Andrews,
Charlie Davao, Evangeline Pascual, Sherilyn Reyes and Robert Arevalo, who
plays Regine's dying father.
